I already dumped those beach related doodoos so have some other doodoos.

Summertime Loving, Loving in the Summer (Time)

Summer means it's time for some beach Tomodachi.

Makoto onii-chan takes my son Maximilian out on a beach trip.

(His tattoos make absolutely no sense but they were still fun to draw anyway.)

Makoto and Maximilian go on another beach trip. I guess they like the beach a lot. Apparently Makoto wakeboards and is teaching Maximilian?? Actually that's just an excuse because I didn't want to bullshit more noob tattoos. And that area looked a little empty.

(Also, Makoto hangs out with my son too much and it worries me.)

Jay and Lu have a beach day. Businessmen need to relax once in a while, too.

The last two doodies... I started to get overly invested and began to paint them... I had to stop myself before I got too into it and wasted more time than I already did. And now they look sorta half assed LOL;;;

Actually my Mii married Jay's (my friend) Mii who has brown hair. My Mii has blonde hair (because my hair is bleached durrr) and it somehow transferred to the child... Game logic is no logic.

For some reason both my children ended up looking like............ delinquents...................

This shows that I should never have real children or they will end up troublemakers. Jay. We're terrible parents.
Oddly enough, both the children are in the "independent" personality group, with one being an "artist" and the other a "thinker". I think Maximilian is the artist and Adrian is the thinker. I'm glad Maximilian takes after his mother wahaha and Adrian sorta takes after the father (except not really because my Mii in the game is a "confident designer" while daddy is "confident go-getter").

Also their last name is Chow-Xu because fuck if I'm gonna change my last name for marriage. But Chow-Xu sounds like charsiu which is Cantonese style roast pork. Oh god their classmates are going to make fun of them. It's. Ok. It's ok. Besides, Maximilian is wearing a gakuran so obviously he goes to school in Japan where the Chinese speaking population is lower (that or he's a giant weeaboo).

Adrian is fairly new and hasn't really done anything interesting yet. But he always talks about his mother... like how her cooking is the best (yeah ok), how he wonders what she's doing, etc. And my Mii visits Adrian's apartment a lot. Adrian is such a fucking mama's boy I LOVE IT. I LOVE MY CHILD.

This is from... last week? Two weeks ago...? Dunno.

It's one of the looks from my friend's thesis collection called MONOMANIA! I loved her collection and wanted to draw something so I just drew this...?
His sweater says "New Brigade Academy" which is the name of the school she thought up for her collection. It's supposed to be about high school boys who kinda have like... psychological issues or "teen angst" so her garments are based off of school uniforms but have been fucked with, like how high schoolers would mess up or customize their uniforms to make it more personal to them and their style. Anyway, it's something like that in a nutshell.
I tried to draw the guy like a punkass high school kid, but he came off a bit... fashiony... or something... But she said she liked him because he looks like a weak Saint Laurent boy （・∀・） I'll take it.
I tried to do something perspective-y but... yeah... it didn't work so well (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:・ﾟ✧

This was for my digital illustration class. I drew one of the looks from my thesis collection: the all white medic inspired look (actually I think this is the only look in my collection that has any white at all so).
The actual look is actually really all white, I only shaded with color for the sake of illustration. And I'm not sure if I'm going to make an armband because of time and... shit.
LOL LOOK AT THAT MEDIOCRE ASS BACKGROUND. Because as usual I fiddled with tons of textures and possibilities but in the end just plain black with some lame ass filters looked best. Plus it's a 300dpi 11x17" canvas, HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO FILL SUCH A GIANT SPACE.
HHhhhhhhhhhhh what else... I don't know, I'm sure I have a lot to say about this but I'm just really... tired...
Er I dunno I did it in one sitting the day it was due LOL UHHHH so there are a lot of mistakes I didn't recognize at the time but now they're really glaring to me. I'm not going to point them out HURHUR;;

Yeah that's the only explanation you're going to get about my thesis. Not because I'm secretive and ~oooh sneak peaks only~, mostly because I can't be bothered to explain the collection anymore when I'm not required to because god I'm sick of explaining it. Actually now that I think about it, I've never fully explained it to anyone, even my teachers LOL WHOOPS.

"Storyboard" for the gif I'm doing in digital illustration class. But for the sake of time, the end product isn't going to be like this original plan. Similar, but not the same.

Actually I'm still kinda eh about posting because they're really really bad but I think it's good to post shitty things too.

So these were attempts at 15 minute doodles because I draw sooo fucking slow so I was trying to train myself to draw faster. But. Yeah. This is the result.

The one on the left... I don't know. He looks like a cockatoo. Don't look at the body. It's wrong. AND MY SIGNATURE IS HIS COLLARBONE TATTOO LMFAO.

Right one... The prompt was from Charlotte. Something like... drinking coffee or something...? I don't remember. But man that is a motherfucking hugeass cup, even for me. Wait I just realized it has a date on it LOL SO YEAH IT'S FROM JANUARY.

Actually the right doodle was done first. In early February, I guess. It's actually only 1.75" tall. I was bored in lecture so I drew something that doesn't actually really look like Katsuragi.

Left doodle is messy/casual Erwin Smith from SnK BECAUSE I FUCKING LOVE HIM OK. And I think this is the manliest guy I've ever drawn because somehow all the guys I draw come out looking like sissies. Although I think I still could've made his shoulders broader or given him something more on his face... shadow or wrinkles or something... because he looks quite young here? When he's actually in his late 30s.............. Ok let's just pretend this is him in his late 20s...

Hm. I forgot about this thing. Drawn in late January, I believe.
It was supposed to be a quick sketch for fun, but I ended up spending a bit more time on this than I wanted... It's ok...

Sooo yeaahhh I always draw dudes that look like TOTAL ASSHOLES FOR SOME REASON. I mean I can't even tell which one of them is the bigger asshole in this drawing. I think the shorter one is, because I somehow gave him a lazy eye WHOAHOHOHOHO it's bothering me so much now but not enough for me to fix it. Maybe I'll just black it out later.
It's a pain drawing more than one person in one illustration because you have to make everything at least a little consistent... like making sure one doesn't have a giant head... or suddenly having a drastic change in drawing style... But it's fun to draw multiple people, even if they don't directly have some sort of interaction with each other (like this one honhonhon). I especially like to put people in contrasting fashion styles ~(⁰▿⁰)~
Anyway, there are multiple things wrong with this...
Proportions... clothing.................................
I mean, the shorter one's jacket is missing a vital zipper in one area (which you probably won't be able to recognize if you don't know how double-breasted jackets work technically, or don't know fashion too well, or don't draw a lot of clothing...)
So let's not worry about all those trivial things and move on ok.

January 2014 iPad dump

I got an iPad for Christmas and I have no idea what you're supposed to do with it. Most of the time it's just been a $600 manga reading machine, and in December I doodled two things on the Moleskine app with my finger (which sucked really bad).

Moleskine app seems cool because it's a digital version of the actual Moleskine notebooks on the market. But it doesn't give a realistic drawing experience (in my opinion), it lags, and the brush ranges are pretty limited. I later downloaded SketchBook Express for iPad, which is produced by Autodesk.

With the addition of a stylus (which came free with a phone case my mother ordered for her Note3), I was finally able to produce some not-so-bad sketches. Yay!

Leftmost one is a bunch of random shit just to try out SketchBook Express and get used to drawing with a blunt stylus and without pressure sensitivity on an iPad.
Of course I always have to draw some questionable males.
Then I moved on to drawing eyes and brows or something...?? I like drawing different eye brow shapes, but always go back to normal shapes...
I also like drawing mouths so... some mouths invaded the page.................... BUT THEN SHIT GOT WEIRD AND I DREW SOME UNIDENTIFIED GLOPPY STICKY LIQUIDS?? Cause I like to draw sticky things. But I didn't realize until after I finished that it looks a little... uh... .___.;;

Middle one is the same guy from when I tried to test a new drawing style but failed.
Tried imagining what it would be like when his hair was at different styles/stages of length.
It's quite fun drawing him (°∀°//)

Rightmost one is based on a "ninja" request my friend had. But I guess in my mind, ninjas are j-rock stars with laser vision??
I drew this while I was getting my hair colored at the salon ROFL. The hair was fun to do. I mean... drawing his hair was fun to do. Not sitting there waiting for my hair was fun.

Soo I think SketchBook Express has the ability to be quite a powerful iPad drawing/painting app. The free version allows three layers and has a pretty wide range of brushes. I just haven't found the right time to sit and properly try to draw something.
I know there's also an app called Procreate that's around $5 in the app store. We're going to be testing the app out in my digital fashion illustration class, so maybe I'll see if I want to invest or not.

The only thing I like about this drawing is the gold nugget (cause I colored that first GAHAHAHA) and the 新年快樂 because I like the border... yeah...
Uhhh let's see... Let's start with the dude.
Soo I drew him first. Yeah. I don't know why he looks so stoned. And the girl looks stoned, too, but we'll talk about her later. Yeah idk man, somehow he just came out looking stoned. Don't look at the pattern on his shirt cause it's not consistent LOL;; and uhh yeah. I gave him an undercut cause I'm really liking undercuts lately.
The girl also came out looking stoned god dammit why idk.

Ehh I was gonna talk about them separately but it's not working so I'll just randomly blabber.

So I really don't like drawing traditional Chinese-y things 90% of the time. I was kind of dreading doing this, but I wanted to do something nice for my grandmother in China. So... I drew this. But because I get so bored with Chinese shit, I tried to modernize it a little. I kept iconic things like the gold nugget, red envelopes, and lanterns. But I wanted to update the two characters a little. So the dude has an undercut hairstyle and piercings (in red and gold cause y'know Chinese). I gave him tapered trousers instead of Chinese-y pants, but kept with a Chinese shirt (I don't know the real name of those things because lol I'm a terrible Chinese person) and shoes. His lantern is a little more simple than the girl's to look a little more masculine.
It was harder to modernize the girl because I guess when you think Chinese girl, you usually think very traditional? The hair is still kind of classic (like the girls you see on CNY posters with those two dumb buns on their head) and I kept her makeup sort of traditional with pink eyeshadow. She has very faint pink lip gloss (if I made it any darker it looked weird). I really wanted to update her outfit instead of giving her a typical qipao, so only the top looks like a qipao. One side is a floral design and the other is a plaid. The red sash ties into a ribbon on her back. Her skirt is the same fabric as the guy's shirt. And I gave her some black boots with a red heel. Her lantern also has more detail than the guy's.

It's not that I hate drawing Chinese things... But it does tend to bore me a lot...

Anyway, Happy Lunar New Year. Go rake in those envelopes, mo'fuckas!

AHEM ANYWAY-
This was actually just an excuse for me to draw abs. It was the first time I drew an 8-pack (°∀°)! At the time I was pretty proud of the result, but I got embarrassed and........... was kinda torn between just clothing him completely or partially? Honestly it was a very difficult decision. BECAUSE I DREW THOSE ABS SO FUCKIN' WELL.
Although currently I can tell the proportions are off. But I mean... I tend to elongate torsos so...
I don't know if by now it's considered my "style" or if I'm just incompetent. Because I recognize the error, I just don't... correct it really... Unless it's ridiculously wrong.
This isn't the first time I've spent a good amount of time drawing a body just to cover it with clothes. If I wasn't so embarrassed of my friends judging me, 75% of my drawings would probably be of naked or half-naked people guys. Partially because I like to draw bodies and partially because clothes take so god damn long to draaaaAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww... says the fashion designer.
The funny thing is I went with the partially covered option because even though I'm embarrassed, I wanted to show collarbones BECAUSE HNNNGGG COLLARBONES and the chest which I painstakingly uhhhhh planned out (it sounds weird but that's what I did). And idk nipple. There's a nipple. But yeah, I did partially clothed because I wanted to show some of the body, even though I was embarrassed. But in the end it just looks overly... uhh... suggestive............................... Like more suggestive than if he was just completely clothed or completely topless... Idk if I would've been as embarrassed if he was just topless LOL;;;

Anyways, I tweeted this drawing to the mangaka, not really expecting anything. Maybe if I had my hopes up I would've expected a "cool thanks bro". But, y'know, since I really like this mangaka I was acting like a kissass/fangirl like I DREW N#@)!*-SENSEI'S MAYA TEEHEE BECAUSE I LIKE THIS CHARACTER DESIGN A LOT HURHUR BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH HE IS A MANLY CHARACTER HE ALSO HAS A SWEET SIDE WHICH MAKES HIM CUTE HARHARHAR BUT MY DRAWING FAILED TO CAPTURE HIS PERSONALITY I'M VERY GOMENNASAI DOKIDOKI KOKORO TOYOTA SUZUKI. And then I sent it and immediately was like wtf am I doing she's never gonna read that.
BUT THEN I CHECKED TWITTER A FEW HOURS LATER AND SHE FAVORITED THE TWEET AND REPLIED. SHE REPLIED.

Actually I'm really happy she replied, and with more than just "thanks" or "that's cute". I think it's been a couple days since her reply but I still get happy thinking about it uhhhh I'm not a high school girl with a crush don't worry.

I drew a girl.
WHOOOAAAAAAAAA WHAAAATTTT it was actually really hard because I kept making her neck too thick and her shoulders too strong. I've drawn so many men in the past few years that it's hard to draw women now. But I can easily draw a feminine looking guy...?
Sigh. I hope she looks like a girl now. I gave her big eyes and long lashes and ridiculously slight shoulders.

Anyway, I just wanted to draw a pretty girl. I don't think she's pretty though sob.

I also spent a huge amount of time trying to color this but it just wasn't coming out the way I wanted. In the end it looked better as lineart, I think... (this always happens...........................)

Anyway I'm shit at color coordination so it's easier on me if I don't color. You know... that's why I always resort to b/w, b/w with one color, or insane neon colors that have no relationship whatsoever.

Soooo this one... I don't know. I wanted to change my drawing style a little because I feel I don't have a style, or if I do it's really boring/lame? But in the end I don't think it looks that unique or different from how I usually draw all that much... ::facepalm::
AND IT'S LIKE EXTREMELY OBVIOUS THAT I'VE BEEN READING A LOT OF MANGA LATELY.
It bothers me how much I'm influenced by whatever is currently taking up my time... if that makes sense...? Like my sophomore year of college I drew a lot like my drawing teacher (but I don't know if that's my problem or his problem, because apparently a lot of the kids who took his class had the same issue). Then in junior year my friend and I started to draw sort of similarly to each other because we always sat next to one another in class. And then you can kinda tell when I start picking up manga/anime again because the animanga influence would show in my drawings. Maybe it's just me................
Anyway it's not that big a deal. But this isn't the first time I've rambled about this. I'm always worrying about mehmeh my style meh blahblah when it doesn't even really matter...

Uhh anyway.

This drawing looks like it took maybe 30 minutes max. But it took like ^{three hours ::lies down::}
WHY DO I WORK SO SLOWLY.
Well partially cause I was focusing so much on "I want to change my drawing style".
Also he's naked shirtless because I like to draw male bodies even though he's anatomically incorrect. And I like collarbones. A lot.
The hair was fun to draw. I kinda like how clean looking it came out, since usually I tend to draw five million strands of hair which makes everything look kinda messy or dirty. And I've been drawing a lot of undercuts/partially shaved hairstyles recently cause they're fun (and I think they're on trend right now?).
I've also been really into beauty marks lately so I just put a random dot by his eye ¯\(°_o)/¯
